#bridalinspiration Rembrandt light your pre-shoot

Rembrandt lighting is named after 17th century Dutch artist, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn who was known for using earthy tones and golden highlights to frame the faces of his portraiture subject.

His painting style was distinct because focusing the lighting on the subject's face and adding detail tapped into the innate human attraction to the face.

The approach creates an effect where one half of the subject's face is fully illuminated while the other half is in shadow, except for a small inverted triangle of light below the subject's eye.

The Rembrandt lighting technique creates dramatic and moody images with a vibe of mystery - perfect for the Bride's preparation photo shoot.

Why is the Bridal prep photoshoot the most important part of a wedding shoot ?

This is the part of the day where as a photographer you get to meet the key players and learn a little about them.

What makes them laugh.

Who is emotionally invested.

What are the relationships at play.

While there is opportunity for some of the greatest moments of the day ie Mum and Dad's first glimace of their daughter in the dress
